This computer program (made by Professor Ellingham) can help with the arithmetic when solving systems of linear equations or doing row operations. It's a simple command-line program for manipulating vectors and matrices. Feel free to use it on homework assignments to check your answers and help avoid mistakes, but remember you won't be able to use computers or calculators on the exams or quizzes.
If you're interested in a supplemental resource for this course, I recommend taking a look at Jim Hefferon's free textbook Linear Algebra. This covers much of the same material as our text, but organizes the material differently with more emphasis on motivation and explanation. The presentation is somewhat more colloquial and less dense than our textbook, and some students may find this this appealing. But be warned that at times Hefferon uses different notation and terminology from our course.
Announcements:
- The course gradebook on Brightspace has been updated to give an accurate calculation of your current overall grade in the course. See the announcements in Brightspace for more detials.
- I will have adjusted office hours during the final week of the term (Dec 2–6) as follows:
- Office hours on Mon (Dec 2) will be from 4:10–5:30pm (instead of 3–4 as usual)
- Regular office hours on Tues (Dec 3) from 1:00–2:00pm
- Extended office hours on Fri (Dec 6) from 11:00–12:00, and additionally from 1:10–3:00pm
- Our Final Exam will be Monday December 9, from 9:00–11:00am in our usual class room.
- This comprehensive exam will cover material from the entire semester; specifically §§1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, 1.6, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4, 2.5, 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 3.4, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 5.1, 5.2, 5.4, 6.1, 6.2, and 6.3.
- There will be an emphasis on the new material since the last exam (sections 5.2–6.3)
- The Fourteenth and final Homework Assignment has been posted. Due Wednesday December 4.
