Welcome
to the Hotel Infinity! -- a short story by Nancy Casey. This is not
history, but it's a fun story that complements a
discussion of
Cantor's
discoveries and
Kronecker's
disapproval of same.
A
Century of Controversy over the Foundations of
Mathematics, by G. J. Chaitin. In the last part of this
web page, Chaitin talks about his own discovery, and I'm not sure
how reliable that part is, but the rest of the web page seems
to be okay and quite readable.
Biographies
of Women Mathematicians, maintained at Agnes Scott College.
Historians have too often overlooked the contributions of women, so
it's good that there is this excellent website devoted solely to women
in mathematics. Caution: The server is intermittent; if it
doesn't work when you try it, try it again later.
The MAA has some online
book reviews. Some of the books being reviewed involve
math history. For instance, here is a review of a
biography
of Brouwer, one of the most exciting mathematicians
of the 20th century.
