What to Study for the Final Exam
Listed below are some of the textbook's exercises. The final exam in my Math 140 classes will consist of a selection of some of those exercises. These problems will be copied from the book, with only these alterations:
- Some problems in the book specify a method that you must use, but I will not specify a method; you may use any method you like.
- A problem in the book might ask for several things, and I might not ask for all of those things. For instance, a problem in the book might ask you compute the area of a region and also sketch a graph of the region; I might omit asking for the graph.
The test will be cumulative (i.e., covering the entire semester), but it will have some extra emphasis on the more recent material that hasn't appeared on any quizzes or tests. Also note that earlier topics often are implicit in later topics -- for instance, you'll need to know the formula for the derivative of a product of two functions if you're trying to find the maximum of some function that is the product of two functions.
