Recommended Hotels
The conference will take place in the Historic Menger Hotel. We have reserved a block of rooms at a special conference rate. In case all rooms that we have reserved in the Menger hotel are taken, the hotel might be able to accommodate you in the neighboring Historic Crockett Hotel (210-225-6500, fax: 210-225-6500), which is across the street. Both hotels are adjacent to the historic Alamo and the famous riverwalk. We urge you to stay in the Menger Hotel during the conference, both for your convenience, and to help us keep the cost of the meeting rooms as low as possible. We also highly recommend that you make reservations as early as possible since the number of rooms blocked in the hotel is limited. Note that the hotel has a cutoff date for receiving the conference rates. Also note that you cannot get our group rate for the hotel using the hotel's website -- you must fax or call them and ask for the Vanderbilt University rate. Lastly, you must make your hotel reservation on your own, the conference organizers will not be able to do this for you (unless you are an invited plenary speaker).

Other Hotels in the Area

In addition to the above two mentioned hotels, you could try the Red Roof Inn San Antonio Downtown, 1011 East Houston Street, (210) 229-9973. This hotel is about two blocks from the conference hotel. However, you should know that the hotel is facing a highway/railway and hence the rooms are somewhat noisy, the organizers are told. Another possibility is Comfort Inn Alamo, (210) 281-1400 or (800) 223-4990. Alternatively, you may want to check out some of the hotels at www.sanantonio.com/hotels/ or some other online resources, such as travelocity.com, priceline.com, orbitz.com, hotels.com, expedia.com, etc.
