Professor Neamtu is a Slovak-American mathematician. He received his PhD in 1991 from the University of Twente, the Netherlands. His current research interests are in approximation theory, splines, geometric design, numerical analysis, and in quantitative and financial mathematics. He teaches graduate and undergraduate courses, mainly in analysis, statistics, numerical analysis, and financial mathematics. He is a member of the Center for Constructive Approximation. His latest research in splines was featured in the 2015 issue of the department's Spectrum newsletter.
