Homework |
Graded. To get an A you must get at least 80% of points assigned
for the homeworks. |
Quizzes |
Every class (at the end of the class). Each quiz is 10 points. You
can use your book, notes, my help, but not the help of other human beings.
Two lowest quiz scores will be dropped. |
Midterm Exams |
All of them will be given over the Web with the help of the WebTester.
You can take the exams wherever you want before the deadline. You can use
notes and the book but not the help of other humans. There is no fixed
time for midterms. We'll have them after we finish every big chunk of the
material. By staying in my class you agree to obey the honors code. There
will be a severe punishment for any violation of the honors code. |
Grading policy |
The quizzes will bring approximately 180 points (maximum). The homeworks:
100 points. The midterm exams - 400 points. The final exam - 200 points.
Total - 880 points. The letter grades will be given in a standard manner:
97% and up is A+, 93 -- 97 is A, 90 -- 92 is A-, 85--89 is B+, 80 -- 84
is B, etc. The final test cannot lower your score by more than a full point
provided you pass it (get more than a C). This means that if before final
test you had an A+ and you got a C on the final, you will get a B+ for
the course, not less. If you do not pass the final (get less than a C)
then I will compute your total score and give you a grade according to
this score. |
